  🗓️ Date: Sunday, 7th September
  🕒 Time: Meet at 10:30 at Flatenbadet (by the restored changing rooms)
  📍 Location: Flatenbadet, Stockholm – easily accessible via subway to Gullmarsplan + bus 816, or by car (parking available)
  Join us for a scenic 7 km walk around beautiful Flatenbadet — a mix of forest trails, lake views, and great company.
  Midway stop: Lunch/fika at the charming Torpet Café (indoor & outdoor seating).
  Optional: Refreshing dip in the lake at the end!
  Pram & dog friendly
  Moderate difficulty (140 m elevation gain)
  Loop trail (start & finish at the same spot)
  Early exit option via bus from the café
  Whether you're in it for the fresh air, the fika, or the laughs — this walk has something for everyone!

  Hi Everyone,

  We’re excited to invite you to Phil’s Fun Day, a community event full of laughter, friendly competition, and great company!

   Time: Sunday, 7th September – Arrive by 11:00 AM

   Public Transport: Bus 7 from Malmö Anna Lindhs plats to Malmö Packhusgatan

   Teams: Randomly formed groups, max 5 per team

  There will be a variety of fun challenges and a prize presentation to wrap up the day. We’ll also have hot-dogs, drinks, and maybe something extra for the kids, so come hungry and ready to enjoy!

  Bring yourself, your energy, and maybe a friend or two... and a bottle of water! We’ll take care of the rest.

• September Book Club: ”Missing persons” by Clair Wells

  We’re moving away (briefly!) from fiction for our next book club pick – Clair Wills’ Missing Persons, Or My Grandmothers Secrets (2024). Clair Wills grew up in London and spent many idyllic family holidays in Cork with her grandmother, aunts and cousins. But in Missing Persons she approaches this family history through the ‘missing person’ at the heart of the book, her cousin, Mary, who was born in a mother and baby home, and who she never met. In her attempt to find out what happened to Mary, Wills tells a story about twentieth century Ireland, about land, about women, about shame, about families, and about emigration. “The most representative thing about my family,” she writes, “was not the small farm, the nightly saying of the Rosary, or the close community of neighbours … but the fact that most of its members lived elsewhere. Perhaps this is the biggest Irish secret. The typical Irish family was not at home.”

  Join us for the Annual Swedish-Irish Society and Stockholm Gaeld GAA club Family Day. This is a great opportunity for young people to experience Gaelic games and to make new friends, and is a really popular event in our joint calenders. There will be storytelling and other fun activities.The Family Day is open to  members  of the Gaels and the SIS, families and friends, although of course you'll be welcome to join on the day.  Pizza slices will be provided for members. Note: Registration not needed.

  Come and enjoy a traditional Irish breakfast on Sunday 9  November  at 12.30 and pick up a pre-loved book. Perfect to get through a grey November !
  
  Wirströms pub (Kungsgatan 7) will be organising a special full Irish breakfast* for the occasion. A vegetarian breakfast option will be available.
  
  
  Payment directly to Wirströms on the day.
  You can bring 2-3 books, and you'll be asked to bring home any that aren't taken. Swedish or English is fine!
  
  The "full Irish breakfast” includes sausages, pudding, bacon (rashers) , beans, egg, brown bread and tea/ coffee. The vegetarian option includes halloumi, egg, beans, mushrooms, tomato, brown bread and tea/coffee.
