Join Us for a Fun Family Picnic!
Following the successful St. Patrick's Day Parade in Malmö, we have planned another gathering for all those in Skåne with Irish connections.
We’re excited to invite you and your family to "A Lark in the Park", a delightful, family-friendly gathering where we can connect and get to know each other.
Please spread the word and share the event details with Irish friends!
Bring your picnic and blankets and get ready for an afternoon of fun, games, and community connection. This event promises something for everyone but especially children. Come dressed for the weather....us Irish can deal with a bit of rain!
What to Expect:
11:30 Meet, Mingle and face painting near the stage in Beijers Park.
12:00 Picnic lunch
12:45 Family Games
14:00 Céilí Dancing
15:00 Wrap up
It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy some quality family time, share stories, and connect with others in the local Irish community.
We look forward to seeing you there for a day of hopefully good weather and craic.
This event is free, and open to all in the Skåne Swedish Irish community.
How to get there:

After three rounds of tense voting, Ferdia Lennon’s Glorious Exploits (2024) emerged from Aishling’s nominations as our next book club pick.
Set in 412 BC, Glorious Exploits takes us to the Sicilian city of Syracuse in the middle of the Peloponnesian War, where two unemployed potters with strong Irish accents decide to stage Euripides’ Medea among a quarry full of thousands of Athenian prisoners.
Narrated by Lampo, ‘a cheerfully indifferent bullshitter’ according to one reviewer, Lennon’s novel combines raucous comedy with the pitch-black tragedy of wartime suffering. It was the Winner of the Wodehouse Prize for Comic Fiction and nominee or winner of numerous debut novel awards.
Join us as we unpick the Euripides from the Dublinese, and for the most important vote you’ll cast this year as Deirdre nominates three books for our next meeting!
