Fresh from the very successful Reading and Rashers event, we are launching a book club linked to the Swedish-Irish Society.
The first meeting will be on Monday 26 of February at Wirströms at 18.00.
We will read and chat about Claire Keegan’s Small Things Like These, a little gem of a book by the author of Foster (which was adapted for film as An Cailín Ciúin).
The film adaptation of Small Things Like These, starring Cillian Murphy, premieres this month, so you’ll be fully primed for that after our book club.
The first meeting will also be an opportunity to decide together the shape that the book club will take: when and where and how often we meet, what kind of books we read, and (most importantly!) how we decide what to read.
So, dig out your copy of Small Things Like These, or lend it to a friend. It has the added beauty of being extremely short, so you’ll probably only need one cold February evening to read it.
And we look forward to a lively discussion at Wirströms on Monday the 26th!
There is a trad session on in another room from 7pm, so anyone that wants can make an evening of it.
Strengthening the cultural bonds between Sweden and Ireland – and having fun while we do it!
